Recognition for Ayton
Ayton Products was recognised in the annual May Gurney Integration Awards for its contribution to the recently completed A11 Attleborough Bypass in Norfolk.
The scheme comprised a new 3.3 mile two-lane dual carriageway, improvements to four junctions, and a new bowstring arch bridge for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.
The scheme - the first HA ECI project in the East of England - was successfully opened ahead of programme and within budget.
Tony Hipperson, Ayton Products' General Manager, said: "We supplied aggregates from our Shropham and Lynford quarries, Type 1 from a source in Leicestershire, emulsion for Fibredec and Tripave surfacing for the footbridge.
"We were one of four May Gurney Group companies who supported this scheme, which has been recognised by the Highways Agency as a model of ECI (Early Contractor Involvement)."
The project picked up two awards at the 2007 Highways Agency Major Project Conference - one for completing more than 250,000 man-hours on the project without a RIDDOR accident, and the other for reducing the overall delivery time to 'open to traffic'.
The scheme also picked up an ICE East of England Merit Award for 'Outstanding Technical Excellence/Innovation' in June 2007, and earlier this year was also awarded a Considerate Constructors' Certificate of Compliance.
The May Gurney Integration Awards were presented at the company's senior management conference on Tuesday 2 October.
