Bristol Harbourside enhanced by Clearmac
Clearmac® has been installed at two prestigious but very different locations in the past few weeks.
2,500 square metres of cold-applied Clearmac has been recently installed as part of the prestigious Bristol Harbourside regeneration project.
Clearmac creates a striking impression by itself, and is equally impressive when used in combination with traditional materials such as block paving, Yorkstone and granite setts. At Bristol Harbourside, old railway lines were retained as a feature.
Ayton Products ran the surfacing contract, with May Gurney preparing the base construction. The specialist installation of Clearmac was carried out by Ayton's licensed contractor, Inlay Ltd.
Thanks to funds donated by the Ivy Child Trust, the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital has gained an attractive, secluded and peaceful memorial garden, which provides an area of contemplation and relaxation (see pic below).
The new 58 square metre recreational facility, encircled by boxed hedging, plants and trees, has been part surfaced with Clearmac. The project is soon to be concluded with the addition of attractive curved stainless steel and hardwood seating.
The choice of Clearmac for the hospital's memorial garden project represents a classic deployment for the attractive paving. In this instance the base course was once again prepared by May Gurney, but Clearmac was applied by Ayton Products' own technicians.
Clearmac's clear resin allows the natural colour of the aggregate to show through, creating beautiful paved areas. The aggregate is fully bound within the resin to produce a highly durable, low maintenance surface with no loose stone. The wearing course is applied by hand and designed to provide high performance on surfaces subject to point loading such as driveways and parking areas, pedestrian areas, pathways, precincts and lightly trafficked roadways. The cured material gives a textured finish able to resist degradation caused by weathering and UV radiation, oil, fuel and some commonly used solvents.
Clearmac paving has been specified and laid at many high profile locations including London's Natural History Museum, the Royal Parks, BA London Eye and Kew Gardens. Installation is carried out throughout the UK and Eire by Ayton Products' network of licensed contractors.
Clearmac is just one of a number of specialist surfacing products manufactured by Ayton Products. The range also includes Stonebond® resin bonded surface dressing, Ayton Playsafe® safety surfacing, Colourchip® resin coated chippings and Tripave® rapid cure and waterproof decorative surfacing.
